Dr. Stuart Rabinowitz is the president of American Radiology Associates and has been practicing radiology in the state of Maryland for over 35 years. Dr. Rabinowitz earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and then completed an internship in medicine at Salem Hospital in Boston. Following this, he completed both a residency in radiology and a fellowship in nuclear medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also has a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Engineering and Applied Physics from Harvard University.
While studying at Harvard, a friend of Dr. Rabinowitz suggested that he speak to the head of Nuclear Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital who was a nationally recognized researcher in the then-growing field of nuclear cardiology. After learning more, Dr. Rabinowitz applied for and was accepted into the radiology residency program followed by a nuclear medicine fellowship.
“As I learned more about these subspecialties, they seemed to be an excellent choice to utilize my background in mathematics and physics with my interest in cardiology,” says Dr. Rabinowitz. His PhD thesis was on cardiac mechanics and the effect of a heart attack on the stiffness properties of the myocardium. Following his training, he went into private practice with a special interest in nuclear medicine.
When not working in radiology, Dr. Rabinowitz enjoys going on family vacations, reading spy and sci-fi novels and relaxing on his deck overlooking the Shenandoah River.
