Why You Should Schedule Your Annual Screening Mammogram
Your annual screening mammogram is important when it comes to taking care of yourself and your breast health. A mammogram can often detect breast cancer early, even before a lump can be felt. The earlier its found, the easier to treat!
Whether you are going to have your first screening mammogram, or you've had them before, knowing what to expect may help the process to go smoothly. Here are a few things that you can expect.
You will be asked not to wear any deodorant, antiperspirant, powders, lotions or creams on the day of your exam.
Your mammogram will be performed with a machine that takes X-ray to look at your breast tissue.
The mammogram unit has 2 plates that will compress the breast, spreading the tissues apart, resulting in a better quality picture.
After the exam, the results will be sent to your physician and also be available for you, on our patient portal.
We encourage you to take charge of your breast health and schedule your annual screening mammogram today! If you have a physician for your general breast health, we can expedite your appointment by scheduling without a referral.
