Florida Lung Health Coalition: Launch Symposium

Florida Lung Health Coalition: Launch Symposium

This month, the Florida Lung Health Coalition launched its initiative to increase early detection of lung disease across the state. At the FLHC launch symposium, various stakeholders presented new hope and new solutions in lung health—targeting a vast population in Florida that is eligible for lung screening. One of FLHC’s primary aims is to increase the uptake of lung screening, currently at only 3% of the eligible population in the state.

Speakers included Dr. Catharine Young, from the Cancer Moonshot initiative at The White House; Annabelle Gurwitch, actor and patient advocate; Dr. Mathew Ninan, Director of Thoracic Surgery at HCA FL; and the founder and chairman of RadNet—Dr. Howard Berger.

Topics included equity in cancer detection, mobile lung cancer screening, the patient’s perspective, and FLHC’s “3 to 30” goal. To view portions of the symposium, click here. To find out more about how you can support FLHC, click here.
